The Maruti Suzuki Baleno distinguishes itself by offering a smart mild hybrid option for improved fuel economy. The lone premium hatchback with a 1.0-litre petrol engine is the VW Polo, whereas the other five premium hatchbacks have 1.2-litre petrol engines.

Another area where the Hyundai i20 excels is in transmission selections, with manual and automatic transmission options. Following that is the VW Polo, which has two manual and one automatic transmission option. The Maruti Swift, Honda Jazz, and Maruti Suzuki Baleno all have limited manual transmission and automatic transmission options.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno excels in terms of mileage, with statistics as high as 21.1 kmpl for the natively aspirated variant and 23.87 kmpl for the mild hybrid variant. The automatic type gets greater mileage, with several 20.28 Kmpl. 

However, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is unable to compete due to the absence of a diesel option. The Tata Altroz and the new Hyundai i20, on the other hand, continue to be offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. However, in terms of power and mileage, the Hyundai i20 wins with more power (100 PS) and torque (240 Nm).
